Baidupedia Launches City-managed Entries

Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) online encyclopedia, Baidupedia (baike.baidu.com), has partnered with the Chengdu municipal government's web portal to launch chengdu.baike.com, the first in a series of self-managed city pages on Baidu's Baidupedia platform. The page will be managed entirely by the Chengdu municipal government's web portal, as opposed to traditional Baidupedia pages which are managed by users. Baidupedia plans to launch a number of city-managed paged in the future under its new chengshi.baidu.com page. Chengshi.baike.com will allow city governments to post text, pictures, videos, and other media to develop their city's online presence.
