Gome to Open 200 New Stores in Second-tier Cities

Wang Junzhou, president of Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK), yesterday announced that Gome's new strategy will focus on expanding retail locations primarily in second-tier and third-tier cities, including 200 new stores slated to be built in second-tier cities in 2013. Gome's e-commerce platform Gome.com.cn will focus on achieving profitability. Gome has completed building its first-tier city retail network, where it will develop experience stations in its larger stores and plans to increase store performance by 5% in 2013.
