Netease Portal Revamps Homepage

Chinese internet company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has announced it will launch a redesigned version of its portal, www.163.com, on January 1, 2013, featuring a new layout and improved original content.

The new homepage will adopt a three-column layout, with news in the left and center columns and products such as Netease's e-mail, photo album, and Lofter light blogging services listed in the right-hand column. The new version will also feature a stationary navigation menu that remains at the top of the page when the user scrolls, as well as a menu at the bottom of each page.

In terms of content, the new version will focus on original content, and includes two new features - "Bet You Like This" and "Aggregated Readings" - displaying content determined according to basic user characteristics, regional location, browsing habits, and reading activities.
