Rumor: LeTV Spends RMB 50 Mln Purchasing One TV Series

According to an industry source, Chinese online video and Internet TV content provider LeTV (Leshi) (300104.SZ) recently bought the exclusive online broadcasting rights for the comedy program Xin Bianji Bu Gushi (New Stories from the Editorial Office). The program was bought for more than RMB 1.2 mln per episode, totaling over RMB 50 mln. In comparison, this is more than double the record set when the online broadcasting rights for the drama Biography of Zhen Xuan was purchased for RMB 20 mln two years ago.

LeTV had no official response to this news, but senior VP Gao Fei stated that Xin Bianji Bu Gushi is the most important program to which the company has exclusive online broadcasting rights this year.
