Rumor: ZTE, Huawei Take 60% of China Telecom 4G Equipment Tender

An industry source has revealed the results of China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) 4G network equipment tender, with 8 suppliers among a total of 10 applicants receiving contracts. Tender results are as follows: ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) (32%), Huawei (28.9%), Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB) (16.6%), New Postcom (6.4%, all FDD), and Datang Mobile (5.7%, all TD). Contracts won by Ericsson, Nokia Solutions and Networks, and Fiberhome Telecommunication Technologies (600498.SH) each comprised less than 5% of the tender.

China Telecom's 4G network deployment will include both TD-LTE (30%) and FD-LTE (70%) network equipment.

China Telecom and telecom equipment suppliers have yet to confirm tender results.
