China's 4G Users to Exceed 30 Mln in 2014

Miao Wei, head of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), announced today that the ministry will support the rapid growth of 4G in China. He added that before the end of 2014, more than 300 cities in China will have commercial 4G service, and the number of 4G users will exceed 30 mln. The MIIT will further advance the convergence of wireless telecom, fixed-line internet, and television/radio networks. The ministry will also strive to increase the number IPTV users to more than 33 mln in 2014, according to Miao.

The MIIT expects China's IT-related consumer spending to exceed RMB 1 trln in 2013, up approximately 25% YoY. Telecommunications industry revenue will grow 8.4% YoY, while the software and IT services industry is expected to grow 25% YoY.
