Jilin-based provincial cable TV operator Jishi Media (601929.SH) has announced the signing of a cloud TV platform agreement with Beijing Novel-Super Digital TV, a subsidiary of DTV conditional access systems provider China Digital TV Holding (NYSE: STV). According to the agreement, the two companies will partner on the development of new household entertainment technologies in China's converged network space, including cloud service platforms and over the top (OTT) multi-screen interactivity.
The two companies will provide value-added entertainment services to bidirectional digital TV subscribers in Jilin province including cloud gaming, motion sensing, and OTT services, with the partnership eventually seeing the release of products for mobile terminals. During their cooperation, Jishi and Novel-Super will establish connectivity between platforms through newly developed technical agreements, with Jishi to provide technical support for broadcast networks and Novel-Super to provide cloud gaming platform technology solutions and gaming content. Capital contributions are planned from both companies as part of the three-year agreement.
