Rumor: Baidu VP to Join Jingdong as CTO

Netease Tech, 4/08/14

According to an industry insider, Li Mingyuan, VP at Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) responsible for the company's mobile internet business, will soon leave his position at Baidu to join Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Jingdong) as CTO. Baidu declined to comment on the rumor.

According to a source close to Baidu, Li Mingyuan's resignation may be due to an unsmooth merger between Baidu's wireless department and its recently acquired 91 Wireless subsidiary.
