JD.com Establishes Wholly-owned Subsidiary for O2O Business

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) announced today that it has established a wholly-owned subsidiary for O2O business. The company's local life services mobile app Paidaojia and all related departments and personnel will be transferred to the new subsidiary, which will constitute one of JD.com's 5 core businesses along with JD Finance, C2C e-commerce platform Paipai.com, and JD.com's smart hardware division.

JD.com VP Wang Zhijun will serve as president of the new subsidiary and report directly to JD.com CEO Richard Liu. JD.com VP and original director of Paidaojia Deng Tianzhuo will focus on the subsidiary's strategy planning.

An O2O service platform is a central part of JD.com's 2015 strategy, Liu recently revealed at the Boao Forum for Asia in China's Hainan province.
