China Tower Invests RMB 61 Bln in 2016 Base Station Construction

China Communications Facilities Services Corporation Limited ("China Tower"), a joint telecom base station management venture formed by China's three major telecom operators, invested RMB 61.1 bln in base station construction last year, according to a report by China Tower general manager Tong Jilu.
Over the last two years, China Tower has invested RMB 95.0 bln in base station construction, including RMB 33.66 bln in 2015 and RMB 61.1 bln in 2016, and and has undertaken construction of 1.275 mln base stations, completing 1.142 mln base stations. China Tower met the construction demands for 340,000 stations for China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK), 325,000 stations for China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH), and 477,000 stations for China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), growing their site locations by 146%, 78%, and 47%, respectively.
China Tower completed 658,000 construction projects in 2016, or 170,000 more than 2015's 485,000. Altogether, China Tower has completed 45 subway projects covering 1,340 km and 46 high-speed rail projects covering 8,757 km.
