Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) recently announced the launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant, "Tencent Dingdang," with capabilities similar to e-commerce giant Amazon's AI assistant Alexa. Tencent's assistant features precise front-end semantic recognition and accurate interactive response provision abilities.
The launch of this assistant is aimed at integrating a complete service ecosystem. For example, a user can say to Tencent Dingdang, "Check the weather," and it will provide the current weather report and a forecast for the following 3 days. If asked about the results of a football match, it will give a relevant response within one second.
According to Tencent, Tencent Dingdang's current services cover areas including news, sporting events, ticketing services, delivery services, music, the stock market, and literature. Information on nearby resources based on location-based services is also included.
Tencent also said that the AI will be integrated into smartphone apps, such as news, browser, and travel apps. Other smart devices such as smartwatches, smart televisions, and robots can also be equipped with the Dingdang AI assistant.
