Xiamen-based Weizhijia Technology, operator of campus advertising and marketing service platform Weizhijia, recently announced completion of RMB 7-digit pre-Series A funding from undisclosed investors. The funding will be used for data mining, improving the precision of ad campaigns, and establishing sales centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
Weizhijia, established in 2014, first offered applications for university campuses, and also created public accounts for schools on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app. The public accounts have features such as grade checking, class scheduling, and second-hand trading, which are frequently used by students to accumulate followers and traffic. Weizhijia also has driving test and e-commerce shop business lines.
Weizhijia has partnerships with several driving schools in Fujian province through which it has integrated driving school registration into public accounts.
In the realm of e-commerce, Weizhijia utilizes public accounts as retail distributors so that, for example, during graduation season, it can partner with manufacturers to sell graduation gift products via public accounts it manages.
Weizhijia has also integrated functions from online platforms such as part-time job information app "Part-time Cat" and recruitment platform Shixiseng.com. The company's coverage includes over 2,500 universities, over 40,000 public accounts, and over 30 mln student followers.
CEO Bai Ronghui said that Weizhijia's main profit point is advertising. Weizhijia partners with enterprises, runs online ads, and integrates ads directly into the public accounts serviced by Weizhijia. Major clients currently include Coca-Cola, JD.com, NetEase Cloud Music, and New Oriental.
Weizhijia earned revenues of over RMB 2 mln from January to March this year. The company will now focus on commercialization and has a profit goal of over RMB 10 mln for 2017.
