Weibo Expands Support and Tools for Government-related Microblog Accounts

Chinese microblogging platform Weibo (Nasdaq: WB), a subsidiary of Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), recently announced a new "Government Weibo Account Matrix Upgrade Program," which will provide account management products, benefits, and resources to help support government affairs Weibo accounts. The program will help participating government organizations to create an account system and strengthen organizational management over their accounts. Thirteen departments including the Tianjin traffic police department will be included in the program's initial trial.

Weibo had 171,411 government-affiliated accounts as of June 30, 2017, according to the "H1 2017 Government Indices - Weibo Influence Report" jointly published by media outlet People's Daily and Weibo.
