Chinese Android device maker Xiaomi's home electronics brand, Mi Home, recently announced a new crowdfunded smart security camera, the Chuangmi Smart Camera. The device is priced at RMB 79 and features easy installation, a 120-degree field of view, and infrared night vision.
The Chuangmi Smart Camera weighs 65 grams and supports 720p high-definition filming with image distortion correction technology. It has a 120-degree wide angle lens and six 850 nm infrared lights for night vision recording at up to 9 meters distance.
Using the companion mobile app, users can view images from the camera's image feed at any time. It supports bi-directional communication so that users can communicate between a mobile phone and the camera device. It also supports customized mobile monitoring through the app, so that if the camera detects motion it will automatically record 10 seconds of video and send a push alert message to the user's mobile phone or WeChat account. The device also supports sleep mode to help protect family privacy.
For storage, the camera has a local Micro SD card and automatic loop recording. It also supports binding with a Xiaomi router. Camera recordings can be viewed using TV, tablet, or mobile devices.
