Digital Rise Sues Skyworth, Gome over Audio Decoding Technology Infringement

Guangzhou-based multi-channel digital audio coding technology developer Digital Rise will sue consumer electronics developer and manufacturer Skyworth Digital Holdings (0751.HK) and Gome Electrical Appliances (0493.HK) in the Beijing Intellectual Property Court for alleged patent infringement. The complaint asserts that over 100 products made by the two companies infringed on two patents held by Digital Rise, which is seeking compensation totaling RMB 192.2 mln.
The two patents held by Digital Rise are classified as "audio decoding" and "audio coding and decoding systems" technology. According to Digital Rise, more than 100 products manufactured by Skyworth and subsidiary Skyworth-RGB Electronics, including S9-1, S9D, and W9 television products, have allegedly infringed on these patents. In selling products containing infringed technology without permission, Gome was also in violation of patent law provisions.
