Chinese government news agency Xinhua News Agency's News Information Center and internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) have signed a partnership agreement on live broadcasting and short video distribution. The two companies will explore a comprehensive partnership covering content production, operations and management, distribution, and big data.
Xinhua News will have an official video account on Sina's user-generated content distribution platform mp.sina.com.cn, which will allow Xinhua News live broadcasts and short videos to be recommended and broadcast through various Sina products, including the Sina News mobile app, Sina's web portal, and subsidiary microblogging platform Weibo (Nasdaq: WB).
Xinhua News Agency News Information Center has more than 5,000 institutional users, and provides complete coverage of all traditional regional media in China.
In H1 2017, Xinhua News Agency completed more than 300 live internet broadcasts for a total of 15,000 minutes, and published more than 30 short videos per day on average.
