Seniors' Healthcare Smartphone and Solutions Firm Halove Wins RMB 210 Mln Series A

36kr.com, 11/13/17

Hangzhou-based senior-citizens-focused smartphone developer Halove Technology recently announced completion of RMB 210 mln in Series A funding from investors including online and mobile healthcare solutions provider We Doctor Group and several private capital investors. Halove Technology previously completed RMB 9-digit angel funding.

Halove Technology was established in 2015 and offers hardware (smartphone) and software solutions to connect parents and their children. Based on this business the company has also launched a series of services for healthcare, elder care, and family consumption upgrades.

The company's first flagship mobile phone, the Halove H1, entered mass production and shipments in March 2017. The phone is priced at RMB 2,999 for a package including the smartphone itself, a companion bracelet, and services.

Halove's phones are intended for use by elderly parents, while their children can download and install a companion app on their existing mobile phone to communicate with the parent's handset. The phones support picture and video sharing between family members within a family circle. Halove has partnered with voice recognition software company iFlytek (002230.SZ) to add voice control and real-time transcription functions, including support for regional dialects.

Halove also offers healthcare and nursing services for family members. Using a companion hardware device, users can monitor a family member's sleep quality and physical condition. Halove also offers 24-hour emergency help services. When a parent presses their smartphone's SOS button, the phone will connect to local 120 (emergency) and community association help lines. Third, the company offers personal doctor services. The Halove backend platform has partnership arrangements with more than 1,200 medical specialists at top-grade Chinese hospitals, and users can use their Halove phone for voice-based medical consultations.
