Xiaomi Invests in Game-focused Handset Maker Black Shark

Chinese Android device maker Xiaomi recently said that it has invested in Nanchang-based game-focused smartphone maker Black Shark Technology.

Black Shark was established in August 2017 and recently began operating an official Weibo microblog account for its handset business. Tianjin-based Jinxing Investment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xiaomi, controls a 21.94% stake in Black Shark. Sun Changxu, a partner in Xiaomi's industry investment division, is also a senior advisor at the company.

In terms of gaming phones, Ni Fei, general manager at smartphone manufacturer Nubia Technology, recently announced on February 1 that Nubia plans to develop a gaming-focused smartphone. US-based gaming hardware maker Razer also launched a mobile gaming-oriented handset in November 2017.
