Tianjin-based Luding Technology, operator of mobile bicycle-sharing service Bluegogo, and Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) have formed a strategic partnership to jointly explore innovations in IoT (Internet of Things) technology and cloud service applications. Bluegogo and ZTE will also share professional resources and work to develop Bluegogo's overseas market.
Bluegogo and ZTE's partnership is based on an NB-IoT technology component to be used in the bike-sharing company's smart locks. Partnering on cloud platform and big data technology will also help Bluegogo achieve smarter operations.
Bluegogo launched in San Francisco in January 2017, the company's first expansion to an overseas location. In July, the company established a presence in Sydney with the help of a local Australian partner, becoming Sydney's first mobile bike share, said Bluegogo CEO Li Gang. Apart from the U.S. and Australia, Bluegogo has plans to launch in 30 more cities in 10 countries this year.
Bluegogo, which facilitates nearly 7 mln rides a day, has more than 20 mln users across six major Chinese cities: Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Foshan.
