Tutor Matching Service Qingqing Jiajiao Raises USD 55 Mln Series D

Guangzhou-based Qingqing Education Technology, operator of tutor matching app Qingqing Jiajiao, recently completed USD 55 mln in Series D funding led by ClearVue Partners and TAL Education Group (NYSE: TAL). Also participating were existing shareholders such as Trust Bridge Partners, Sequoia Capital, IDG Capital Partners, and Frees Fund. Reportedly, this round of funding will be used to deploy a teaching and research system, and for technology R&D and online class infrastructure.
This year Qingqing Jiajiao underwent a brand upgrade, positioning itself as an in-home and online education brand for primary and secondary school students. The company's core business expanded from 1-on-1 offline in-home tutoring to in-home and online customized tutoring. The company now has separate tutoring services for pre-primary, primary, middle, and high school students. The company's 1-on-1, in-home service is mainly concentrated in key cities, while its online service utilizes the teacher resources from those cities to provide tutoring services to students nationwide.
There are currently over 16,000 verified instructors, along with their related teaching service data, on the Qingqing Jiajiao platform.
Qingqing Jiajiao CEO Liu Changke revealed that as of the beginning of Q4 2017, the company had deployed its services in 30 cities nationwide, including Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, and Hangzhou.
In December 2016, Qingqing Education Technology completed USD 18 mln in Series C+ funding.
