36Kr.com, 1/12/18

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has launched a Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) open platform called "Baidu Trust" at web address chain.baidu.com.

According to the official site, the platform is a project based on Baidu's research in blockchain technology and has already successfully seen application in industries such as asset securitization and asset exchanges.

The platform's biggest features are its "openness" and "customizability." In terms of openness, registration on the site is open to the public and users can deploy blockchain nodes on their own. As for customizability, users can customize and flexibly deploy the various attributes, templates, and mechanisms of a blockchain according to real-world business scenarios for enterprises.

Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) previously launched its own enterprise-grade service "Tencent Blockchain" in April 2017. Tencent's "TrustSQL" BaaS platform is currently in closed beta and requires users to submit an application in order to be granted access.
