Rumor: DeNA Angles to Acquire Chinese WAP Site

Sina Tech, 7/04/09

According to popular Chinese mobile news blog Mobinode, Japanese mobile social networking service (SNS) operator DeNA intends to acquire Chinese mobile SNS portal tx.com.cn, but no details have been forthcoming about the price. Tx.com.cn has declined to comment for the time being.

Tx.com.cn, originally called "WAP Tianxia" was established in March 2004. In July 2007, it transformed into a mobile SNS website. Currently Tx.com.cn has over 30 mln registered users, close to 1 mln daily visitors, and has garnered several tens of millions of USD in VC investment.

Mobinode is a group-edited webblog that covers the Internet market news in Asia, especially in China. It is founded and led by Gang Lu, co-founder of OpenWeb.Asia Workgroup.
