MIIT Official Estimates China's 3G User Base at 43 Mln in 2010

Netease Tech, 1/19/11

While speaking recently at the 2011 China ICT Developmental Trends Summit in Beijing, Chen Jinqiao, vice president of engineering for the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) research institute, estimated that as of the end of 2010, China had roughly 43 mln 3G users, which was only about 70% of previous projections. Chen warned, however, that reliable statistics had yet to be released. In 2010, the MIIT had clearly stated its hope that 3G subscribers in China would reach 60 mln by the end of the year.
