Facebook Negotiating to Acquire Tianwang

SinaTech, 11/09/07

COO of Beijing Tianwang Tang Jincao has indicated to SinaTech that US campus networking site Facebook has expressed an interest in an acquisition, for a US dollar price in the tens of millions. Tang said the two firms are in negotiations, with disagreement over pricing.

According to Tang, "we are the number one platform in China's campus networking sector, we have the largest number of student users, and three million active users." Tang believes that Facebook values Tianwang's user base and the popularity of its search and download services among university students. There have previously been rumors that Facebook is to purchase Xiaonei or Zhanzuo.
