China Mobile to Deploy 10-20K TD-LTE Base Stations in H1 2012

Appearing at the 2011 Cross-Straits Summit on TDD-based Mobile Broadband Technology Development and Partnerships in Guangzhou today, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Party secretary and vice chairman Xi Guohua revealed that the operator would set up between 10,000 and 20,000 new TD-LTE base stations during the first half of 2012. 50% of the operator's 250,000 existing TD-SCDMA base stations can be smoothly upgraded to TD-LTE, Xi said.

China Mobile VP Li Zhengmao said that there were more than 30 TD-LTE terminals in the operator's industry chain at present.
