Suning Yigou (Suning.com), the online e-commerce platform of Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning (002024.SZ), has announced the launch of a new shopping channel for airline tickets and hotel reservations, officially due to go online on April 25. The site will also open a beta release for a wines and liquors channel on April 29.
In addition, Suning Yigou's bookstore channel will undergo revisions this month, expanding its technology, humanities, education, and tourism book categories, among others.
Suning Yigou will also officially unveil both its financial products channel, its department store channel, and its lottery channel in June. In the second half of the year the site will launch a full-scale promotion of the third-party payment platform Yifubao, operated by Nanjing Suning Yifubao Network Technology; make its first attempt to launch a self-developed clothing brand, and gradually open up into a B2B2C business model. Suning Yigou's integrated service platform across all product categories will be completed within the second half of the year.
The site has announced that from April 18 to 20 it will host an "e-commerce price war" among its online merchants, and will offer a total of RMB 1 bln in bargain prices for top-selling goods as well as over RMB 100 mln in discount deals. For each day in the three-day "price war" period, the site will hold three site-wide 70% off promotions.
