Apple Pays USD 60 Mln to Settle iPad Case in China

Today the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province announced that Shenzhen-based display device manufacturer Proview Technology, a subsidiary of Proview International Holdings (0334.HK), and Apple had reached a settlement in their dispute over the rights to the iPad trademark. Apple will pay Shenzhen Proview a settlement of USD 60 mln to resolve the dispute, and has already transferred the money to the designated account. Shenzhen Proview founder Yang Rongshan said the USD 60 mln settlement already included all fees for Apple's previous use of the iPad trademark and transfer of the rights to the use of the trademark.
