Rumor: Apple to Establish R&D Center in Beijing

According to an industry source, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed to Beijing mayor Wang Anshun during his recent trip to China that the company plans to establish an R&D center in Beijing. Apple will also begin hosting its China iTunes App Store on servers in mainland China, possibly located in China's Hebei or Inner Mongolia provinces, in order to increase download speeds for users in mainland China.
