Alibaba Completes Acquisition of Umeng

Tencent Tech, 11/19/13

Mobile app analytics platform Umeng has announced its acquisition by Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group, but declined to reveal any financial information about the deal. Umeng will retain operational autonomy as an independent company upon completion of the acquisition.

Alibaba's wireless division director Eddie Wu has disclosed that the company will assist in positioning Umeng as a comprehensive mobile developer services platform, as well as leverage Alibaba's existing resources to provide value-added services such as promotion, storage, and advertising to developers.
