WeChat Service Provider Weimob Lands RMB 30 Mln Series A

Sun Taoyong, founder of Shanghai Huishuo Information Technology, operator of Weimob, a third-party service platform for official accounts on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app, today confirmed that the company has received RMB 30 mln in first-round funding from Singaporean private equity fund Meridian Capital. The latest round of funding will primarily be used for product development and recruitment. WeChat official accounts are used by enterprises and celebrities to interact with "subscribers."

Weimob, established in April 2013, primarily provides enterprises with WeChat-based development, operation, training, and promotional solutions. As of the end of June 2014, Weimob's development team consisted of nearly 200 people, with more than 400,000 enterprises on the Weimob platform.
