China PC Online Gaming Matrix - Q1 2016

China's PC-based online gaming market revenues reached RMB 88.9 billion (USD 14.1 billion) in 2015, up 2.2% YoY. Improved Internet penetration, up from approximately 48% at the end of 2014 to over 50% at the end of 2015, and rising average incomes supported positive growth, but the industry's top talent and resources continued to migrate to mobile gaming.

Client-based PC gaming revenues grew just over 0.4% in 2015 to reach approximately RMB 61.2 billion (USD 9.7 billion), comprising 68.8% of total market revenues. Browser game revenues grew 8.3% YoY - considerably lower than the 58.7% growth rate in 2014 - to reach almost RMB 22 billion (USD 3.5 billion), comprising 24.7% of total market revenues. Social game revenues dropped 0.4% in 2015, compared to an increase of 6.8% in 2014, to just under RMB 5.8 billion (USD 914 million), as user time previously spent playing social games increasingly shifted to mobile game play. Social game revenues comprised 6.5% of total 2015 market revenues.
