Rumor: Second-Stage TD-SCDMA Deployment to Cover 38 Cities

Sina Tech, 12/13/07

An industry executive has revealed that the second, large-scale stage of TD-SCDMA test networks is planned to cover 38 cities, with construction to start next year. By 2009 it is expected that there will be a national TD-SCDMA network.

Responding to the rumor, an official with a TD-SCDMA firm indicated that TD-SCDMA construction work in ten cities is only just ending - this was originally planned for late October, but completion has been delayed till late December. With network optimization and handset issuing still to come, there has been no time to consider the next stage of TD-SCDMA testing.
