Rumor: Round 2 of TD-SCDMA Terminal Bidding Slated for April

An informed source has revealed that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) is to launch a second round of TD-SCDMA handset procurement in April, following on from completion of first round deliveries in late March. Scale and range of procurement will be greater than the initial round. Also, less strict management by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) means that any manufacturer with TD-SCDMA products may have a chance to compete for contracts.
