Youqu to Use Shanda 2D Game Name for Own 3D MMO

CCID, 7/06/09

Shanghai Youqu Network Technology has been developing an online 3D game based on the popular online novel Gui Chui Deng. This is the second time the novel has been adapted into a game, the first time being Shanda's (Nasdaq: SNDA) 2D side-scrolling MMORPG of the same name (Shanda's English name for the game is Ghost Fighter Online).

According to Shanghai Youqu Network Technology, while Shanda had acquired the rights to create a 2D side-scrolling version, it never acquired the rights to produce a 3D game as Youqu now has.

Game development began two years ago in 2007, and the product is now finished and expected to go online this August. Further details will be announced at the Chinajoy China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference in Shanghai from July 23 to 26.
