Huawei Leads MIIT List of 2009 Top 100 Software Firms

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its list of the top 100 Chinese software companies by revenue for 2010. Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei ranked first with RMB 72.57 bln in revenues from its software business, followed by rival ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) and IT services and system integrations provider Digital China (0861.HK) with RMB 27.07 bln and RMB 13.04 bln in revenues from their software businesses, respectively.

Combined revenues for the top 100 software companies reached RMB 244.87 bln in 2009, accounting for 24.6% of China's total software industry revenues in 2009 and up RMB 40.92 bln compared to 2008. 43 of the top 100 had software revenues over RMB 1 bln, compared to 10 firms in 2008. Six had revenues exceeding RMB 5 bln, with no change compared to 2008. Combined revenues for the top ten firms grew significantly compared to 2008, up 20% YoY.
