Rumor: Netease to Launch WoW's Cataclysm in Q2 or Q3

Sina Tech, 1/05/11

On condition of anonymity, a source has revealed that Chinese internet portal and online game operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has already submitted an application for approval to the appropriate government bodies for the Chinese domestic version of the World of Warcraft expansion pack "Cataclysm". According to estimates by the source, the expansion back should begin operations in Q2 or Q3. Previous reports had indicated that Netease would not submit a formal application until February.

A source inside Netease confirmed the news, but cautioned that the formal approval process had not yet been initiated. The source predicted that "Cataclysm" would not complete the approval process until after completion of the process by "Starcraft II," another highly anticipated Blizzard product that will be operated by Netease.
