Chinese laptop, PC, and handset manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) and Japanese electronics firm NEC are in final talks to open a PC manufacturing joint venture in Japan, according to foreign media reports, to reduce costs and improve both companies' competitiveness. Lenovo will purchase a majority stake in NEC PC manufacturing subsidiary NEC Personal Products Ltd., and the two companies will jointly establish the new JV.
