iFeng, 3/21/11

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Asus (LSE: ASKD; 2357.TW) has announced plans to establish a USD 50 mln PC sales subsidiary in mainland China in response to fast-growing consumer demand.

A source within Asus said that a location will be selected before the end of this month, with Chongqing the most likely choice, but Chengdu also a possibility. The source added that Asus had discussed the idea of investing with Chengdu's local government as early as 2008, but later began talks with the Chongqing municipal government.
