China's DTV Market to Reach RMB 500 Bln in 2015

Chinese consulting firm CCID Consulting predicted recently that China's DTV market would grow from RMB 40 bln in 2002 to 500 bln in 2015. Huang Qifan, deputy director of SARFT's direct broadcast satellite (DBS) center, said that of China's 408 mln television-viewing households, some 202 mln are cable subscribers, 13.5 mln are "Cuncuntong" rural DBS receiver users, and of the remaining nearly 200 mln, most are terrestrial television viewers. Huang said there remains ample room for future growth in China's DTV market.
