Plans for National Cable Operator Submitted to China's State Council

Southern Metropolitan News, 2/20/12

Zhang Haitao, deputy director of China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), said recently that plans for the formation of consolidated national cable TV operator China Radio and Television Network Co., Ltd. have been submitted to the State Council for approval, and that the company would be formed this year. The news means that cable networks around the country will be unified under a single national network, now making China Radio and Television a potential carrier for value-added telecommunications services, internet access, and data transmission services.
