NetEase Media to Invest RMB 1 Bln in Content Ecosystem Development

Chinese internet company NetEase's (Nasdaq: NTES) media subsidiary will invest RMB 1.0 bln to upgrade its content ecosystem as part of the roll out of version 2.0 of its media partnership project, announced NetEase Media Vice President Yang Binbin. NetEase Media will partner with content creators along several dimensions, including smart distribution, original content IP protection, fan conversion, big data mining, and brand advertising. Half of the planned investment will be dedicated to supplementing content creation on NetEase Media's open platform Wangyihao.

The media partnership project refers to media embedded on NetEase platforms, such as Wangyihao, NetEase Video, and NetEase's interactive video platform, as well as partnerships with professionally generated content through those mediums.

Wangyihao currently has more than 200,000 content creators, and the site has more than 1 bln daily views. Short videos on NetEase's other platforms have exceeded 100,000 minutes of total viewing time per day.
