Beijing's Dongcheng District to Pilot Electronic Fencing Technology for Bike Shares

Qianzhan.com, 5/16/17

Beijing's Dongcheng District is planning to designate nearly 600 parking areas for non-motor vehicles, which will be displayed within mobile bicycle share apps. The district government will also begin testing "electronic fencing" technology in June or July, which would mean that if a user does not park the bicycle in a designated area, they will be blocked from completing the rental and charged indefinitely.

Bicycle share operators will also be encouraged to use innovative means, such as offering price reductions or credit scores enhancements as incentives for users who park the bicycles in designated areas.
