Update: Alibaba to Open Unmanned Coffee Shop This Year

Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) recently said that it plans to open an unmanned coffee shop in Hangzhou by the end of this year. The unmanned coffee shop was first demonstrated during the Taobao Maker Festival 2017, held during July 8-12.

Alibaba's unmanned coffee shop team has been integrated into the"new retail" strategy for Tmall, Alibaba's B2C e-commerce platform. The team will also work with Tmall's new retail technology laboratory to focus on developing unmanned retail solutions that can handle larger customer volume and more complex commercial scenarios.
