TAL Education Establishes 'Brain Science Lab' to Explore Learning Process

DoNews, 1/25/18

Chinese K-12 after-school tutoring services provider TAL Education Group (NYSE: TAL) has announced the formation of a "Brain Science Lab," which hopes to use a large volume of student study data to explore student motivations. The lab will also partner with several top universities to gradually undertake research projects in the brain sciences.

TAL's brain science lab will focus its research on three aspects: creating an effective basis for longitudinal "learning process" studies using objective measurements of brain functions and additional class diagnostics and observations; researching more targeted and more precise learning ability rating systems; and, designing appropriate products under scientific guidance.

TAL also set up a strategic partnership with Stanford University to jointly promote artificial intelligence research.

TAL plans to set up six more joint laboratories across the world in the future and open an overseas research center this year.
