Today's Headlines Invests in 3D-to-2D Cartoon Producer Shengying Animation

Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, operator of online and mobile news portal platform Today's Headlines, recently invested in Beijing-based cartoon and animation firm Shengying Animation Technology, according to business registration papers filed by Bytedance Technology subsidiary Shanxing Technology.

Shengying Animation engages in cartoon production using propriety 3D-to-2D technologies that can generate 2D cartoon image previews based on 3D sources in real time. Shengying also has internal control functions for online data verification, modification, and management, which provide support for collaboration in scenarios involving international project outsourcing. The company's website indicates that its business models include contract services, co-production, and original IP development.

In 2017 Shengying Animation produced more than 2,000 minutes of animated content.
