AutoNavi Launches Commission-free Ridesharing Service in Wuhan and Chengdu

Stdaily.com, 3/28/18

Chinese digital map provider AutoNavi, a subsidiary of e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA), recently announced the launch of a ridesharing service starting in Chengdu and Wuhan. AutoNavi has also begun recruitment of car owners in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, and will subsequently roll out the service to more cities nationwide.

Liu Zhenfei, president of AutoNavi, said that its public benefit ride-sharing service will never have profits as its goal, will never take a commission from drivers on its platform (some platforms take a 10% commission), and currently even subsidizes text notifications, insurance, and other third-party service fees for its driver users. AutoNavi guarantees that however much a passenger pays, that is how much the car owner receives.
