JD.com to Develop Delivery Drone with 40-60 Ton Payload Capacity

Richard Liu, CEO at Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD), recently published a message to microblogging platform Weibo stating that the company has produced its first heavy-duty delivery drone.

Liu said that the drone has a payload capacity of 1-5 tons and a flight range of more than 1,000 km. The drone was developed by JD.com itself using its own intellectual property. Liu also announced that JD.com launched a new super-heavy-duty drone development program on June 18. The super-heavy-duty drone will have a payload capacity of 40-60 tons and a flight range of more than 6,000 km.
