China's MIIT Releases March 2020 Telecom Statistics; Mobile Subs Rebound to 1.59 Bln

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its national telecom industry statistics for the month of March 2020. China's total number of mobile service subscribers increased by over 9.6 mln during the period to reach just under 1.590 bln.

As of the end of March 2020, China's total number of 4G mobile service subscribers had rebounded to over 1.275 bln, comprising 80.2% of the country's total mobile service subscriber base.
In calculating the figures for change since the end of 2019, the MIIT used the data from its December 2019 monthly report.
In calculating the fixed-line telephone and mobile subscriber penetration rates in the table above, the MIIT used China's 2019 year-end population size.
