Beijing-based Zhong Ai Technologies, operator of third-party pet services platform Lpet, has completed RMB 100 mln in Series A funding from the National Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Development Fund and THG Ventures, said Zhong Ai chairman Jiang Qinjun.
Zhong Ai, established in February 2014, completed pre-Series A funding in 2015. It specializes in proving treatment consulting, healthcare advice, and other training materials and services for pets and pet owners.
The Lpet platform includes three components:
1. Lpet Hospital Management software. The software not only provides smart, efficient management services for veterinarian offices and pet stores, but also provides communications services based on mobile messaging platform WeChat to allow pet hospitals and pet stores to communicate with customers more effectively.
2. Lpet International Procurement Mall. The platform partners with local suppliers to help veterinarians and pet stores with their procurement needs. It provides one-stop procurement services for more than 5,500 animal hospitals and 50,000 pet stores.
3. Lpet International Testing Center. The center operates as a third-party testing service institution specializing in serving pet hospitals. It provides one-stop technology services for imaging, detection, examination, and analysis, and offers reports in Chinese and English.
In addition, Lpet also announced that it has partnered with Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) to launch a "10 mln pet examination program." Under the program, when pet owners purchase physical exam services through JD.com, they will be able to make an appointment with a designated local animal hospital to carry out the procedure.
