JD.com, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Ally on Expired Drug Recycling, Marketing, Logistics
iYiou, 8/14/17
Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings recently signed a strategic partnership agreement to collaborate on expired drug recycling, product sales, brand operations, public projects, and pharmaceuticals logistics.
The expired pharmaceuticals recycling program will be jointly run by JD Pharmacy, JD.com's public goods donation platform JD Foundation, JD Logistics, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings, and drug maker Baiyunshan Pharmaceuticals Holding (600332.SH).
Consumers can log in to the JD.com website or mobile app and search for "expired pharmaceuticals" to find information about the recycling program. After entering information about the item to be recycled, a representative for JD.com will visit the user's home to pick up the expired pharmaceuticals, and Baiyunshan Pharmaceuticals will handle disposal of all expired items. Each time a user recycles a total of RMB 59 worth of expired drugs, the program will give the user an RMB 20 voucher that can be used to purchase pharmaceuticals on JD Pharmacy's self-operated storefront. The program will run from August 13 through August 31.
In addition to the expired pharmaceuticals recycling program, JD.com and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical will cooperate in several other areas, including:
1. Guangzhou Pharmaceutical will open its own storefront on the JD Pharmacy platform.
2. The parties will work together to expand the "Baiyunshan" and "Chen Liji" pharmaceutical product brands on the JD.com platform.
3. The parties will create a JD Pharmacy brand pharmacist alliance to offer patients one-on-one drug usage consultation, private drug history record keeping, and follow-up services.
4. Guangzhou Pharmaceutical will integrate its offline retail pharmacy operations with JD.com's online resources to strengthen logistics cooperation.
